and newhall in the india basin subdivision. i have a general map in the overhead. the property is on a street that leads to the postal service facility and is somewhat disconnected from the basin as a result. it does a for the city to secure an excellent match for the office of the chief medical examiner, subject to design, cheaper review, and authorization of funding over the left -- the next two to 2.5 years. originally leased in 2006, housing the laundry facility, dislocated from a hospital project. primarily as a result of an arbitration between union representative laundry workers and the city. set aside, subsequently, the laundry is now an outsourced function that never moved into this location. however, the property jurisdiction has been used as a warehouse for off site storage during construction. it served a very valuable purpose, housing everything from art works to kitchen appliances. in the past year the property has not been put to any particular use, although the city did to engage in an aggressive attempt to sub-lease the property. one final alternative uses conformance. the 10

not walk into this presuming to have all the answers for the mta. the men and women of the india are the experts in their field, and what i -- of the mta are the experts in their field, and what i see my job as is looking at what makes things work and not more. i think the people at the very front lines behind the steering wheel have the answers to these questions. i was just a very frequent muni rider and patron. i think there is low hanging fruit. i think there is efficiency to be found. i think there is no question we can make the operation work more efficiently, more effectively, i was going to say it is simple, but it is not simple. speeding muni will make it more efficient and cost-effective and enable us to develop much better service. i do not presume to be walking in with all the answers. i think the answers lie within the agency already. my job is to unleash the power for the folks that work here to make that happen. that is what i am absolutely committed to doing. >> how you supposed to deal with the new -- [unintelligible] >> one of my first orders of business will be

in poorer countries like india or mexico. in face to face interviews with nearly 90,000 people around the world, researchers found that on average, 15% of those in wealthier nations have suffered depression at some point in their lives. that's versus just 11% in lower income countries. here with more on the study is psychiatrist dr. game salts. can you tell me why people in wealthier nations seem more prone to depression? >> we can only hypothesize. the study didn't look for the reasons. why i think a few thing we could conjecture, in poorer nations, first of all, it is more typical to turn to family. if you think about it, in poorer nations, families often live together in close circle them do a lot of the childcare. they do a lot of the marital advice. and we know that actually, close family and social supports are protective against depression. additionally in poorer nations, often people are more turning to religion, spirituality. that also is viewed as protective against depression. and on the contrary side, in terms of more affluent nations, there are greater expectations. in th

china, india, and brazil. when i say things that we may, i mean things that are made here in america. the american economy is slowly becoming more export-oriented and manufacturing oriented. you can see an upturn taking place in the manufacturing sector and the export sector. the problem is that in the last 10 to 20 years, as the economy became so dependent on american consumers, they got really cleaned out. the growth of that we are seeing in manufacturing, believe it or not, we have seen upturns. we have stories about carmakers in the midwest that are not big enough anymore to drive weaker overall economy. it used to be that we would have these big inventory cycles where they would cut back from the recession and then rebuild, driving the economy out of recession and into of recovery. so, this process we are going troops is long and painful. we are starting to see the seeds of it taking place. host: goods, manufacturing, can it be services as well? guest: think in the facts of foreigners coming here. that is an export in terms of individuals coming here to work, say in restaurants.

to be sent overseas to customers and consumers and places like china, in places like india and brazil. when i say the things that we make, things that are made here in america. american economy, actually as we speak is slowly becoming more explore oriented, more manufacturing. look at some of these charts, you actually see an upturn taking place in the manufacturing sector, in the expert sector. the problem is that in the last ten or twenty years as the economy became so dependent on american consumers who are now reluctant to spend. those sectors got hollowed out really thinned out. the growth we are seeing in manufacturing, for instance, believe it or not. we are seeing upturns and we have a story in the paper today about car makers helping to drive the recovery. we are seeing upturns in the midwest in the great lakes states. they are just not big enough anymore to drive the overall economy. it used to be in the 1980s and 1970s, we would have the big inventory where they would cut back and rebuild and drive the economy out of recession and into an recovery. manufacturing isn't big enough to
